I'm excited to spend Fourth of July with my friends at our favorite spot. We're going to sip on some tasty brewskies, chat/laugh/hug, and watch the fireworks over Tempe Town Lake. A laid back night with my dear friends is just what I need, and maybe a sparkler or two.
I was thinking of baking some treats for everyone. I honestly always want to bake goodies. So when a special occasion or a holiday comes up, I jump at the chance to break out the baking pans and whisks. While scrolling through BLDG 52 Blog, I found these cupcakes that are just asking to be eaten. The best part is that they are red, white, and blue. How festive!
So how do we make these cool-looking cupcakes? It's super easy. Here's how...
You can buy a box of yellow cake mix, or if you're like me and love to bake from scratch, then find your favorite cake recipe. Make sure it's a yellow or white batter, or the dye will look funky. Separate the batter into three separate bowls. Dye one bowl blue, dye one bowl red, and leave the other bowl plain. Fill cupcake liners with a little bit of each color, but don't mix them! Bake 'em, cool 'em, frost 'em. Add some decorative touches, like sprinkles or tiny American flags.
Go on! Show how proud you are to be an American!
